For one week, from August 20th to 25th, Xiaowen Zhu works at the Flutgraben Art Factory, the largest artist-run space in Kreuzberg, Berlin, as part of the Occupy Flutgraben–Open Call intervention.
She installed her work The Details Are Invented, a video installation piece reflecting on the gentrification in London and will moderate a panel discussion on artists and gentrification on Saturday, August 25th, at 7pm. The Open Call brings together 50 artists (out of 1000 submissions) who have lost their studios due to the ongoing gentrification. They have been working individually or collaboratively for one week at the 250-sqm central hall in Flutgraben, the largest remaining artist-run studio complex in Berlin. On Saturday, their work will be exhibited towards the public. The panel includes artist and curator Mikala Hyldig Dal, artist and filmmaker Jos Diegel, architect Andrea Harting, as well as artist and activist Elke Kupfer.
