On October 31 2019, Xiaowen Zhu will participate in a reading event organized by Literally Speaking at Lettrétage in Berlin. She will read an excerpt from her debut novella The Red Freezer, a homicidal love story inspired by a true crime in Shanghai.

Literally Speaking is a fiction reading series that features the original work of Berlin. Lettrétage is the “anchor institution” of the independent literature scene in Berlin. This event, curated by Traci Kim, also features authors including Stefanie Kruszyk, Alan Murrin, Ulysses Nara, and Ryan Ruby.
